Step 1 :The Plan
The goal of this step is to understand the learner’s need and make a build plan i.e. identify all the training courses that need to be built and map those to a role. All the courses are mapped to content type e.g. Business overview, technical overview. This will help us in the design and development process.
Step 2 : Design
Here we match courses in the build plan to its right delivery method. We use a variety of delivery methods which is driven by the content type and the shelf life of the content. At this stage we also review all the existing content that can reused here to minimize any duplication.
We also identify the format of the source and the interactions that will be required for the courses.
Step 3 : Development
This is the most critical stage as we want to minimize the SME time here. Our goal is to have SME review and edit the source content like PPT , Excel or word document. This minimizes the effort required by SME at the review stage. At this stage we record audio, build interactivity, identify common components and build all these pieces. We use learner driven design principle like Redundancy, contiguity, modality, conversational styles etc.
Step 4 : Assembly
All learners are different and we design our courses in such a way that learner has the control of the flow. He/she should be able to skip the content that they do not need. We need to assemble knowledge checks at the right place for enhanced learning. This is where a complete course is ready before it goes to the learner.
